Job Highlight: Leather Sofa Removal from a 12th-Floor Flat in Cubitt Town E14
Last week, we were called out for a job in Cubitt Town, E14 3PP that turned out to be more challenging than usual. The client needed help removing a leather 3-seater sofa from their flat — which happened to be on the 12th floor of the building.
When we arrived, we quickly discovered that the sofa couldn’t fit in the lift, and dismantling it inside the flat wasn’t ideal due to the risk of damaging walls or flooring. So we went with the safest (and strongest) option: removal via the stairs.
The Request: Urgent Booking with Quick Turnaround
We got the call on Tuesday, September 2nd at around 2:30 PM. The client asked if we had any availability as soon as possible — ideally the next day.
We managed to book the job in for Wednesday morning, September 3rd at 10:00 AM.
Our team arrived on-site at 10:20 AM, assessed the layout of the building and stairwell, and got straight to work.
The Job: 12 Floors Down, One Sofa at a Time
This kind of job is always a bit of a workout — moving a bulky leather sofa down 12 flights of stairs isn’t easy. But with the right team and a bit of planning, it went smoothly.
We took extra care to protect the stairwells and handled the sofa with caution all the way down. By 11:05 AM, the sofa was safely out of the building and loaded onto our transit tipper van — no damage, no mess.
Cost Breakdown
The total for this job was £150, which covered:
- ¼ load of our transit tipper van
- Heavy lifting charges
- Stair access surcharges
The client was happy with the price, the speed, and most of all, the care we took during the removal.

Final Thoughts
Not every removal is simple. Sometimes the lift’s too small or the access is just awkward. In this case, dismantling the sofa inside the flat would have risked damage — so taking it down the stairs was the best solution.
